The Breach of Ceuta

 

 

The morning breaks on northern Africa's shores,

While thousands run toward the open doors,

Where restless waters heave a sigh,

With desperate hope and an anxious eye.

 

​From Moroccan cliffs to Spain's dry sand,

As swimmers seek the promised land,

A silent, strong tide begins to roll,

And they risk it all to reach the goal.

 

​All legal nets are torn in twain,

No swift return is left for Spain,

The highest courts have stayed the hand,

As poor wetsuits washed upon the strand.

 

​A judicial earthquake shakes the state,

As migrants test their shifting fate,

While leaders watch the rising flood,

And exposed policy meets flesh and blood.

 

​Crying politicians crowd the stage,

While far-right voices vent their rage

With bitter blame and wild cries,

As many webbed alarms begin to rise.

 

​Mister Sánchez caught within the snare,

While Europe breathes a colder air,

Must weigh the laws he chose to draft,

Watching the safety leave the craft.
